2019 UPDATES COMING SOON
PLEASE BE ADVISED THAT THE ONLY THE PHYSICAL ABILITIES TESTING FROM THE UNIVERSITY OF VICTORIA OR UNIVERSITY OF ALBERTA WILL BE ACCEPTED.
The written test will be held on the morning of Saturday August 11, 2018, at Parkgate Community Centre, 3625 Banff Ct, North Vancouver. Check-in and administration will commence at 08H30. This will be the only date for this test. UPDATED
The test will take two (2) hours to complete, but please allow 30 minutes before and after the test for administration.
Only candidates with the minimum required qualifications on Friday July 27, 2018 (and whose applications are regarded as complete on that date) will be considered for advancement to the written test. You will be notified by e-mail no later than Wednesday August 1, 2018 whether or not you have been invited to participate in the written test.
The written test is a series of multiple-choice questions. We use a test provided by the International Public Management Association for Human Resources (IPMA-HR). You may be tested on your ability to understand written information; your ability to perform basic math; your ability to understand mechanical principles, maps and diagrams; and your situational judgement. You will not be tested on firefighting specific knowledge.
If you are invited to take the written test and you have a medical condition or disability (including a learning disability) that may affect your ability to complete the test, please contact one of the three municipal Human Resources departments as follows: City of North Vancouver: 604-983-7349; District of West Vancouver: 604-925-7044; or District of North Vancouver: 604-990-2214.
You will be required to bring picture identification to the written test. All test materials will be provided.
